ASSETS, GAPS, OPPORTUNTIES, CHALLENGES <br />The Devetopmental Disabitities Advisory Committee has conducted an anatysis of services in Kittitas <br />County based on avaitabte information. fusets are strengths in our community that may be abte to be <br />buitt upon. Gaps are areas where the county is not meeting the need of people with developmental <br />disabilities. Opportunities are potential actions that could be taken to improve services. Finalty, <br />challenges are areas that may need additional resources to solve. <br />ASSETS <br />o Dedicated and committed DDAC <br />. A community that cares about and embraces peopte with developmental disabilities. Professionals with valuable training and people with tived experience <br />. Local policy makers who value community input <br />r A strong network of social support for parents of peopte with disabitities <br />GAPS <br />. Few quatified service providers <br />. Lack of vocationat/trade education and job training programs that atign with area employersr Limited number of continuous community employment and transition ptacements <br />. Social skills curriculum for students in special education does not address sex education, <br />dating, bultying, social anxiety, depression, and substance abuse <br />. No menta[ health court program <br />. No one tenth of one percent sates tax for mental heatth and substance use disorder treatments. Limited opportunities for respite care <br />. Lack of awareness about the issues faced by people with devetopmental disabitities by poticy <br />makers, law enforcement, and the pubtic <br />. Services that are culturatly appropriate <br />.
