March 7, 2018
Fire ChiefSteve Jensen
% Easton Fire District $3
POBox52
Easton, WA 98925
Re: Plat of Marian Meadows
Chief Jensen,
As you are aware, the Kittitas Board of County Commissioners approved entitlements for the plat of
Marian Meadows at their March 6th meeting, With entitlements, we now understand what level of
density this site can be developed too. The next phase will be addressing tangible impacts to service
levels and support agencies in place serving it.
At this time, I would like to outline our expectations of timing and construction of the property. First,
water appears to be the most urgent element for addressing, The water commissioners have been clear
that district service north of the freeway would greatly benefit from improvements/upgrades to existing
infrastructure. Most of this can be satisfied with additional water storage but distribution improvements
will also be needed. We have been and will continue to work forward with the water district toward
solutions.
As we engage the water district, we would also like to open discussion with the fire district regarding
anticipated impact and mitigations. lt would be very helpful to us if you could provide an outline of your
expectations and what your expected increased needs will be. We also request a copy of your current
planning documentation as required under RCW 36.704 for the fire district. This would enable us to
come to meetings fully prepared for discussion.
On our end, entitlements are just the beginning of a very lengthy timeline for development. We will be
working forward with the first actual subdivision which most likely will not commence construction until
the summer of 2019.
The expected project timeline is upward of 20 plus years with sub-divisions of 10 to 15 homes
anticipated every 24-36 months, At this time, it is highly unlikely that you will experience issues in
P O Box 458, Cle Elum, WA98922 509-674-7271
