PROJECT NARRATTVE <br />1. Request Description: Please describe the work this position will perform" Include a job <br />description and any other pertinent information. The Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce <br />(KCCC) serves Kittitas County in the efforts of Ecoaomic Development. In order to provide the uhnost <br />focus we will be asking for the following personnel for this 2021 funding: Director olEconomic <br />Advancement, Cofified Advisor SBDC, and Associate Business Development Coordinator. These <br />positions (job descriptions included) will position Kittitas County towards a healthy economy. During <br />the recovery of the most recent panderric, KCCC has recognized the importance oismall business <br />retention, espeoially sole proprietor businesses, yet at the same time the need of expansion which is done <br />by the SBDC Advisor. Additionally, communication has been crucial for businessls during the <br />Governot's updates, public health mandates, workforce struggle and many other items. The position of <br />Itirector will pivot the county to be more shategic in thought process, oversee outreach to existing <br />businesses, communicate regularly with our elected officials, and drive objectives towards relocation or <br />recruitnent of new businesses. Priorities will be formed with these positions ready to serve from <br />Snoqualmie Pass to Vantage. This position will he$ oversee the other two in order to serve all needs <br />county-wide. <br />The Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce works to strengthen parfrrerships and resources to support <br />economic opportunities; these positions will seek opportunities to grow and sustain qualified *ori.-fotcr. <br />They will promote the retention and expansion of existing businesses; and support new businesses. The <br />Director will be set-up to develop, reoommend, and implement the countyos Economic Development <br />Strategy & Work plan. They will identifr and keep inventory ofproperties county-wide for economic <br />development projec'ts. They will serve as the leader in the county tolecruit and assist relocation of <br />businesses to Kittitas County. They will assist and advocate for businesses during permitting efforts. <br />They will researoh" analyze and report,to the COG committee on economic markit tends. they will <br />perform public relations related tasks on behalf of Kittitas County, including physical and digital press <br />releases, press conferences, and social media. They will monitor the county-'s actions/policies pertaining <br />tc Economic Development. The Director position will have the additional trvo positions ( isted above) to <br />help manage businesses at all levels of need. <br />2. Is this a new position for your organizntion? If so, please describe why this position is needed, If <br />not' why is it a necessary for this fund to continue to support this position? <br />PrwiouslS the Kittitas County Charnber of Commerce has aslied for thesi positions, just not simultanmusly. <br />We request that you continue to support these positions, especially now. We have seen great success in the <br />recent addition of the SBDC Certified Advisor and our Associate Bwiness Development Coordinator. We <br />have been able to assist over 350 local businesses during the pandemic. In years past, we have asked for the <br />funding of a Director. We are ready to add this position into the nio of positions io fulfiIl what we are <br />projecting as "needed" in this year to come and in the futr.re. Our couniy has been growing fast and in order <br />for us to stay ahead of the growth curve we need these positions mentioned above, purtiruti.ty the Director <br />position. <br />Local businesses are in a time of crisiso we need to be able to help maintain the current own€rs and operators <br />that we have. Additionally, we need to be able to support the influx of businesses that are leaving thi King <br />County area and relocating to our county which is providing more attractive settings. Our assets are diverse <br />and serve many different industies that are looking for access to rnajor interstates, educated workforce, <br />lower-costs of utilities and rent, commute optionso and healthy lifestyles.
