• Mountains to Sound Greenway recognizes the 2016 Parks, Recreation, and Open
Spaces Plan efforts as well as the 2021 update and is requesting recognition at
Plan Element 1: Trail Systems (easy to accommodate) calling out specific
projects the group finds applicable and mentioning the additional involvement by
the Kittitas County Parks and Recreation District #I(KCPRDI).
• The Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce asks how data will be updated and
managed (easy to add a discussion in the plan), if the document be publicly
available, a timeline for implementation. Additionally, the Chamber expresses
interest in involvement with Plan Element 1 and requests being listed under
Action Item 11.2.
• The Nature Conservancy requests amendment to Action Item 6.4 by removing
"the Nature Conservancy" as the landowner and replacing with "the Central
Cascades Forest, LLC and managed by the Nature Conservancy" (easy to
accommodate).
• Cle Elum Downtown Association asks several questions about expanding the
inventory effort to Hyak and Vantage. Additional questions relate to how the
2016 local data was reported and expresses interest in expanding future data
collection efforts. In closing the question is asked about what has been
accomplished since 2016 — a question we have answered for the Board. These
comments might be addressed with an added discussion about future data needs
that could address the Chamber's concerns as well.
The suggested changes are relatively easy to accomplish by staff. Staff can alter the
public draft incorporating the above requests and reporting the changes in a subsequent
study session to the Board. Staff is anxious to move the draft plan to Public Hearing
allowing sufficient time for any final edits to produce a final plan ahead of the pending
2022 budget cycle. Follow up with interested agencies and groups can be completed by
staff to start forming a network for coordination for future implementation efforts.
FISCAL IMPACTS:
No impacts to budget as the effort has been managed by Public Works administration
staff.
ATTACHMENTS:
Exhibit 1: Published press release.
Exhibit 2: Compiled public comments.
Public Works "Work Session Staff Report", 2021
