Cook <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Direct staff to schedule a public hearing considering adoption of the 2021 Kittitas County <br />Recreation/Tourism Plan. <br />BRIEFING SUMMARY: <br />• Public comment was solicited from early March ending on May 7, 2021. <br />• Minor edits are being requested for consideration. <br />• Staff is ready to schedule a public hearing for plan adoption. <br />• Staff can then finalize the document for redistribution to interested agencies and <br />groups to create a contact network for future planning and implementation. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Public Works staff opened a public comment period in early March ending May 7, 2021. <br />The plan was sent via email attachment to a list of potential stakeholders and interested <br />parties on March 11, 2021. The plan was also announced and made available via Press <br />Release, Board of County Commissioner (BOCC) Facebook page, and the Northern <br />Kittitas County Tribune April 6, 2021. There appeared to be interest in the plan by many <br />agencies and groups, but actual comments are somewhat limited. Comments were <br />received via email from Grant County PUD, Mountains to Sound Greenway, Kittitas <br />County Chamber of Commerce, Cle Elum Downtown Association, and The Nature <br />Conservancy. The published press release is attached as EXHIBIT 1. A complete <br />compilation of comments received appears as EXHIBIT 2. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Several requests are being made that would adjust the plan. These requests are <br />summarized below for Board direction. <br />• Grant County PUD (GCPUD) recognized coordination efforts between agencies <br />including GCPUD, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Washington <br />State Parks, and Kittitas County to provide high-quality recreation amenities and <br />opportunities while enhancing the shoreline and natural resources. <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />Public Works "Work Session Staff Report", 2021 <br />
