Goals <br />1. Develop and implement management practices that will conserve and sustain <br />shoreline resources and important natural features. <br />2. Protect the ecological functions and values of the shoreline areas to ensure no net <br />loss. <br />3. Protect fragile natural areas and resources. <br />4. Promote restoration of shoreline ecological functions and processes. <br />B. Obiectives <br />1. Preserve unique, rare, and fragile natural features, habitats and native shoreline <br />vegetation. <br />2. Avoid and minimize adverse impacts to natural systems and quality of the shoreline <br />environment. <br />3. Preserve the scenic and aesthetic quality of shorelines and vistas to the greatest <br />extent feasible. <br />4. Locate and design new uses and development to avoid impacts to shoreline <br />resources. Where there is no feasible alternative, require that adverse impacts be <br />mitigated to achieve no net loss of shoreline ecologicalfunctions. <br />5. Follow best management practices (BMPs) that protect water quality. <br />6. lntegrate critical area standards in the Shoreline Master Program with the policies <br />and regulations of the localjurisdiction. <br />Chapter 3 <br />March 7, 2016 <br />33
