CenterFuse Broadband Feasibility Report
years ago—an upgrade that is discussed in the following section of the report. The company describes
this as a major upgrade in that the company not only upgraded the electronics used on the network, but
also fixed network problems that were causing outages and other problems. After this upgrade, Charter
increased the download speed of basic broadband in the city from 60 Mbps to 100 Mbps.
The local technicians heard that the company was likely to increase download speeds again in the future
but didn't know if and when that would happen. As this report was being written, Charter announced
that it would begin upgrading broadband in fourteen markets across the country to download speeds of
200 Mbps. Ellensburg was not on the list, but judging by Charter's historical upgrades, it's likely that
the speeds in the city will be upgraded as well sometime in the next few years—but that is just
conjecture on our part.
Charter has fiber throughout the community and brings fiber deep into every residential neighborhood.
But the company will not share its fiber map due to concerns for the safety of the network. The
following map was created from records that Charter provides to the Federal Communications
Commission that show that the company's network covers the entire city.
f
-
; ,-i _,
1114 1, ,.t ,_ •^..:
k
Tom_- z
ii
r
---' N_ — .
74 11
J ..,,:';.;1=',=1.,.•.mal ..:,i,- 74:4.l
cNsar4 4YIr.4
' - •% SGIK WG
CENTERFUSE Service
Charter 1O1P01
•Ctnerated ricin FCC-077 Data' w.n ww..,
Consolidated
We also had a great conversation with local Consolidated technicians.
