Charter also <br /> raised broadband rates by $5 in 2019 and the rate at the beginning of 2019 was $64.99 per <br /> month. Wall Street analysts believe Charter has a goal of getting broadband prices to at least $90. <br /> Just a few years ago the Charter rates were significantly lower than rates of Comcast, the other <br /> big cable provider—but Charter has caught up. <br /> Charter did not specifically increase the price of broadband inside of a bundle on December 1. <br /> However, the bundled broadband rate was increased by $5 per month at the beginning of 2019, <br /> and again by $1 in August. It's hard to know the individual cost of products within a bundle and <br /> it's likely that bundled prices will be raised again in the summer of 2021. <br /> Charter offers a WiFi router(optional) for a one-time activation fee of$9.99 plus $7.99 month. <br /> There are no data caps on broadband monthly download. However, in May 2020 Charter asked <br /> the FCC for permission to begin using data caps. The company has been prohibited from using <br /> data caps as a condition for being allowed to purchase Time Warner Cable. <br /> The company has set a target price for a gigabit broadband at $124.95. But in the competitive <br /> markets where the company competes against fiber the company is selling introductory 1 Gbps <br /> for $104.99. <br /> Telephone Pricing <br /> Residential telephone service is only available as part of a bundle and not as a standalone <br /> product. Depending upon the bundle, the voice product that comes with the most popular <br /> features adds $10 to $15 per month to the cost of a bundle. Charter does not advertise their <br /> business telephone rates. <br /> Cable TV Pricing <br /> While the company's broadband and landline prices are simple, their cable TV pricing is one of <br /> the most complicated in the industry and there are numerous bundling options. The basic cable <br /> rates are: <br /> Basic Cable $23.99 <br /> Expanded Basic $52.99 <br /> Spectrum Select $72.49 -- adds additional digital channels <br /> Spectrum Silver $92.49—adds more channels and 1 movie channel <br /> Spectrum Gold $112.49—adds the Movie Channel, Starz, and EPIX to the Spectrum <br /> Silver. <br /> There are also numerous other ways to add digital tiers, foreign language programming, and <br /> premium channels. <br /> There is a fee called a Broadcast TV charge of$16.45 per month—the most expensive in the <br /> industry.
