Existing Broadband Providers <br /> The two major incumbent residential service providers are Consolidated Communications and Charter <br /> (Spectrum). <br /> Incumbent Telephone Comm ++ <br /> Consolidated Communications is a large incumbent telephone company headquartered in Mattoon, <br /> Illinois. The company trades on NASDAQ under ticker symbol CNSL. At the end of the third quarter of <br /> 2020, the company had 791,000 broadband customers. Consolidated entered Ellensburg in 2017 when it <br /> bought FairPoint Communications. The largest FairPoint properties were in New England, but the <br /> acquisition included properties from across the country. <br /> Prices for Consolidated broadband are as follows: <br /> DSL Broadband <br /> Up to 10 Mbps $62.95 <br /> Up to 20 Mbps $72.95 <br /> Up to 80 Mbps $77.95 <br /> WiFi Modem $10.00 <br /> Kaspersky Internet Security $2.99 to $4.99 per month <br /> $1 fee for a paper bill <br /> Also sells DirecTV Now, Fubo TV, HBO Now, and Philo—online cable programming <br /> The broadband products have no data caps. <br /> Broadband rates were increased by $2.25 per month in 2019.
