Technology Policy 5 -Access <br />5.Access <br />5.1 Summary <br />Access to data will be limited to those resources required for an employee to perform their <br />assiqned official duties .(CJIS 5.9) <br />5.2 References <br />1.Technology Policy 6 -Personal Equipment <br />2.Technology Policy 7 -Data Management,Access,and Protection <br />5.3 Definitions <br />5.3.1 VLAN <br />A virtual local area network (VLAN)partitions network traffic into defined separate groups, <br />e.g.,departments or security groups. <br />5.3.2 Remote Access <br />Temporary access to a County information system by a user (or an information system) <br />communicatinq throuqh an external,non-County-controlled network (e.q.,the Internet). <br />5.4 Policy <br />5.4.1 Wireless access <br />Kittitas County may provide wireless access to the Internet.Any wireless network will be <br />separate from the eeunty-County's wide area network.Direct wireless access to the <br />eeuntyCounty network will not be provided. <br />5.4.1.1 Employees wireless network <br />SSID:l<ittitas County <br />1.County-owned equipment:when connecting wirelessly,employees must connect <br />eeuntyCounty-owned equipment to the employee wireless network. <br />2.Personal equipment:employees may only connect authorized personal equipment <br />to the employee wireless network.Non-authorized personal equipment may only <br />connect to the public wireless network. <br />3.Password Protection:the employee wireless network will be password protected. <br />The password will be changed quarterly and posted on CAMAS.Employees may not <br />share the employee wireless network password with non-employees unless <br />preauthorized by IT.IT may authorize State employees or other visitors working on <br />behalf of the eeunty-County who require encryption to access the internet using the <br />employee wireless network. <br />5.4.1.2 Public wireless network <br />19
