Project Manager I Erik Borgen, JD, MBA
Erik is a leader in the water resources space with over 12 years of experience
working with water rights, water transactions, and hydrology on high -impact
114 projects for corporate, non-profit, foundation, and government agency clients
throughout the western United States. He brings a proven ability to lead
efforts in strategic planning, valuation, permitting, and due diligence for water
rights acquisition, water asset management, and mitigation banking programs.
Erik joined LAI in November 2020, bringing a breadth of multi -disciplinary
j experience. Prior to LAI, he practiced as an attorney with a boutique law
firm specializing in water rights, worked as a water rights consultant at two economic consulting firms,
and served as a project manager with a non-profit organization that pioneered free-market approaches
to streamflow restoration.
Kittitas County Water Banking Experience
Erik has extensive experience working with water banking programs and projects in the County. He
adminstered one of the first water banks in the County, on behalf of a private client, overseeing all
aspects of mitigation transactions, tracking 27 underlying senior water rights, and providing strategic
direction for the bank. Additionally, Erik has developed a deep understanding of the Yakima Basin water
rights transfer market, having studied it on behalf of multiple clients. Erik supported the sale of a water
utility within the County, assisting with the transfer of a complex suite of water rights. He has executed
several water right acquisitions and sales on behalf of clients in the Yakima Basin and has a history of
successfully working with Ecology personnel in the Central Regional Office.
Working with AMP
Erik previously worked as a consultant at AMP's predecessor Ecosystem Economics where he, Amanda
Cronin, and David Pilz collaborated on projects focusing on mitigation bank feasibility and design for
several Washington watersheds.
Erik reflects LAI's core values:
Collaborative — Erik collaborates with a "listen first" approach, seeking to understand problems and
stakeholder positions before voicing his opinion or potential solution. He is deliberate in his information
gathering and synthesis, mindful of the importance of differing approaches. Clients appreciate his
thoughtful and inclusive nature, and feel confident in the projects he delivers because they have been
Involved in the development process.
Responsive— Erik is responsive to the needs of clients. His clients always feel welcome to contact him
with questions or concerns and know that Erik will respond in a timely manner. He became well -versed
in managing multiple, simultaneous deadlines while practicing law and understands that missing
deadlines is not an option. Clients find that they can trust Erik to deliver projects on time and in a
responsive manner.
Committed to Quality—Througout his entire career Erik has been committed to delivering projects and
advice of the highest quality. Erik appreciates LAI's high standards and constantly works to exceed those
standards. Clients appreciate Erik's commitment to quality and find it evident throughout his work
products.
Landau Associates 0
Statement of Qualifications
