Please note that the 1981 flood - <br />way designation is not shown on this map: https: J/bit.1y f 39NHo0o <br />When FEMA determines that it is time to update flood maps in Kittitas County, Flood Control Zone <br />District staff rovide technical revie of the F1RMs and iform citizens about the new maps. <br />The Flood Control Zone District has also received funding from the FEMA to better understand <br />flooding in Crystal, Currier, Mercer, Reecer, and Whiskey Creeks. flood studies in these areas will <br />enable the District to implement more effective flood control projects. This funding program <br />requires that the flood hazard maps be updated when the study is finished and also gives the Dis- <br />trict the tools to update these maps once again when flood projects are implemented. <br />1 <br />E <br />0%,J;%4 CAM I R E D U C E MY I NS Us,�i�4LL miii is <br />• Lower your property's exposure to flooding by elevating your home, <br />• Apply for a Letter of Map Change (LOMC) if you think your building is incorrectly shown as be- <br />ing in a high risk area. A Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA) can be requested if a property is <br />shown as being in a high risk flood zone but is actually on naturally high ground, <br />• Consider a high deductible to lower your premium if financially possible, <br />• if mapping revisions will show your property in a Special Flood Hazard Area for the first time, <br />don't wait to explore insurance options. You may be eligible for a lower premium during the <br />first 12 months after a map change and buying a policy before the new maps go into effect can <br />save more money. <br />Kittitas County participates in the Community Rating System, a voluntary program that <br />reduces insurance premiums by 20% in our community, <br />Your homeowners insurance does not cover flood damage.
