1 . Ataay from their place of residence or business and staying overnight in paid accommodations;
2. To a place fifty miles or nrore a\,ay from their place of residence or business for the day or staying overnight;
3. or from another country or state outside of their place of residence or business.
You must provide lhe evidence utilized in determining your projections.
Response 2.1 *l,ifry lvoukl iourists travello l{tlitas CDUnty to attend youl evaruactivitylfacility?
First, trve believe that or'rr location is appealing to tourists. While fall weather on the
lvestside usually brings rain and muddy corn mazes, we typically continue to have
sunny, blue sky days at the patch. And, wiren talking with guests, this is often a
factor in deciding to make the trek over the pass.
Second, we are the only working family farm in the county that offers a full, hands-
on fall eperience. While there are other "pumpkin patches" in the county, we are
the only working farm, which simply brings with it a very different experience. The
fastest growing segment within the tourism industry is the experiential segment.
Americans are further removed from farming than ever before, with most families
being removed by five generations or more. The faster the rat race in the urban
areas becomes, the nrore appealing a visit dowrr on the farm becomes.
Third, tae don't have the crorirds. We are nrembers of both a PNW agritourism
group, as uaell as a national group. And, the numbers these farms eperience are
slaggering. Farms on the uestside can easily see 50,000+ people in October. This
leads to parking issues, long lines, r,mii times, limited food options, restricted
activity access and more. Many of our guests tell us they come over for the day, or
the weekend simply to avoid the crouds.
Fourth, ue're not just pumpkins, we're eryeriences. We create a well-rounded
e4oerience that gives people a reason to get in their cars and come. We offer
pumpkins straight off the vine, safe play spaces, creative activities, farnr fresh food,
shopping and more.
Finally, it's a thingl Hallorneen is the second largest grossing holiday behind
Christmas. And, pumpkin patches have their or.rn "cult following" of sorts. People
will travel near-and-far for a newand genuine patch experience. And, just like you
have people who have to cut their ornin Christnras tree each year.. .or people who
\ ould absolutely die if they had to have an artificial tree, you lrave folks w,ho have
to go straight to the patch!
2500 character iimt
