KITTITAS COUNTY <br />PUBLIC WORKS STUDY SESSION MINUTES <br />Webex <br />Regular Meeting <br />MONDAY 1:30 PM MARCH 8, 2021 <br />Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith, Vice -Chairman Laura <br />Osiadacz and Commissioner Cory Wright <br />Others: Mark Cook, Candie Leader, Josh Fredrickson, Rebecca Cruse, <br />Nicole Ogan, Public Works; Dan Carlson, Jessica Miller, Mike Flory, <br />Pat Nicholson, Ryan McAllister, Community Development Services; Neil <br />Caulkins, Prosecuting Attorney's Office; Marc Eylar, Noxious Weed and <br />One (1) Member of the Public <br />At 1:30 pm Chairman Brett Wachsmith opened the Public Works Study <br />Session. <br />QUADCO TAP GRANT WITH THE CITY OF ELLENSBURG <br />Mark Cook gave background on the grant program through QUADCO and <br />last week staff had a meeting with the City of Ellensburg regarding a <br />project for a new pedestrian connection on Pfenning Road and Third <br />Avenue. Mark Cook continued that the City of Ellensburg asked if the <br />County would be interested in partnering on the grant application and <br />a twenty (20) percent match would be used. Mark Cook added that the <br />City of Ellensburg and the County would each be responsible for ten <br />(10) percent and county staff would provide the survey. Discussion <br />was held. Staff was directed to move forward with the grant <br />application with the City of Ellensburg. <br />INFRASTRUCTURE FOR REBUILDING AMERICA GRANTS (INFRA) NOTICE OF <br />FUNDING OPPORTUNITY <br />Mark Cook gave background on the grant program and stated that staff <br />did research on doing a design application for the I-90 widening <br />project however, the application would be secondary to any projects <br />that are construction ready. Mark Cook continued that the grant <br />application would have to be done by the middle of March and it <br />doesn't seem feasible to get an application done by that timeline. <br />Mark Cook added that the Washington State Department of <br />Transportation did request a letter of support for the re -decking of <br />the bridge over the Columbia River and that has been sent over for <br />BOCC review and consideration.
