Primary Core Capability <br />Secondary Care Capability <br />WORK PLANNED <br />Purchase newer communication <br />devices and infrared (IR) strobes for <br />the regional tactical SWAT team. <br />4.7 Communications and Warning <br />Operational Communications <br />Operational Coordination <br />WHY THE WORK IS BEING DONE <br />The new communications ^ <br />microphones attach to existing <br />radios. This will allow operators to <br />hear radio traffic without losing <br />audio capabilities. Currently, <br />operators use over -the -ear headsets, <br />and the new headset would be "bone <br />mic" headsets and do not cover the <br />ears. The IR strobes are for <br />identifying operators in the field <br />during night operations through IR <br />3.2 Coordination <br />Primary tore Capability I Planning <br />Secondary Core <br />WORK PLANNED <br />Coordinate resources and train other <br />agency staff to respond to and <br />manage disasters. <br />Continue training new EOC members <br />Continuing functioning as the <br />Incident Commander (IC) of the <br />COVID Response Incident <br />management Team (IMT). <br />Conduct FireWise Campaign <br />Outreach by working with fire <br />districts to seek funds for FireWise <br />and fire mitigation projects. Educate <br />residents on FireWise. <br />Operational Coordination <br />WHY THE WORK IS BEING DONE <br />Coordinating resources for disasters <br />is a main focus of the County <br />Emergency Manager. <br />Ongoing training for members of the <br />EOC is needed to create a deeper <br />bench of team members. <br />Due to limited resources, primary <br />work is still in the COVID-19 <br />response. This creates gaps in other <br />EM -related programs since the team <br />has limited resources to expand due <br />to COVID. <br />Educational opportunities were <br />limited due to the need to respond to <br />the COVID-19 event. There is a need <br />to continue to educate the <br />Kittitas County Emergency <br />Management to better serve the <br />community during times of <br />RESULT OF THE WORK <br />The new operating equipment will <br />allow SWAT Team personnel wearing <br />the headset and strobes to be safer <br />and more effective during non- <br />routine tactical operations. <br />RESULT OF THE WORK <br />Personnel trained on how to <br />effectively manage disasters and <br />coordinate resources will help to <br />mitigate disaster impacts, reduce <br />risks and speed up recovery, <br />lessening and limiting the impact of <br />the disaster to the community. <br />Training the backups for the EOC core <br />team will strengthen the "bench" and <br />allow members to take breaks during <br />a disaster, reducing stress from <br />overwork and fatigue, and improve <br />operational communication and <br />mit <br />Continue to igate the spread of <br />COVID-19. This will allow the <br />community to get back to "normal" <br />faster and assist with economy re- <br />growth. <br />Communities in the county will have <br />the knowledge necessary to mitigate <br />risks associated with fire hazards and <br />better prepared to respond to fire <br />incidents when thev occur. <br />DHS-FEMA-EMPG-FY20 Page 22 of 35 Kittitas County Sheriffs Office.
