Kittitas County Sheriff's Office _
The purpose of EMPG is to assist with the enhancement, sustainment and improvement of state, local, and
tribal emergency management programs. Activities conducted using EMPG funding should relate directly to
the five elements of emergency management: prevention, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation.
Washington State does not require a specific number of activities to receive EMPG funding. However, there
are required capabilities that must be sustained in order to remain eligible for EMPG funding, including but
not limited to the ability to communicate and warn, educate the public, train and exercise, plan, and be
NIMS compliant. The Work Plan delineates the Emergency Management Organization's emergency
management program planning and priority focus for this grant cycle (to include EMPG grant and local
funds).
4.7 Communications and Warnin
Primary Core Capability I Public Information and Warning
Secondary Core Capability I Community Resilience
WORK PLANNED
Renewal of Everbridge mass
notification system, January 2021
through August 2021. Is dependent on
Everbridge as the County's only
notification platform. It has proved to
be invaluable to alerting citizens in
times of emergencies. Having a mass
notification system is a critical
component to support the response
to disasters and to shoring up the gap
In Public Information and Warni .
Preparedness literature is extremely
important to making the community
more resilient. Education about the
County's mass notification system
and preparing for disasters is an
ongoing gap required to be
addressed continuously.
•4.5 Incident Management
Primary Core Capability Operational Coordination
WORK PLANNED
Purchase computer printers for
Emergency Operations
WHY THE WORK IS BEING DONE
During the COVID-19 response, the
County realized there was a gap in
printing capabilities. The entire team
was printing to one printer and had
to borrow printers from different
county departments to help with
COVID-19 response.
RESULT OF THE WORK
The funding will help maintain the
mass notification system. This will
allow the County to immediately
notify people of the disaster and
provide them with guidance. Rapid
information will help save lives.
Preparing for emergencies and i
signing up for Everbridge will help
lessen the impact of emergencies and
disasters because residents will have
access to preparedness information,
encouraging them to increase their
own personal preparedness.
RESULT OF THE WORK
The additional printers serve a dual
purpose. First and foremost, they will
be used in the EOC when activated so
that the staff can work more
efficiently. When not used during
activations, the printers will be used
in the mobile command post, adding
efficiency to operations.
