2l Supporting Kittitas County as a tourism destination
1. Away from their place ol residence or business and staying overnight in paid accommodations;
2. To a place fifty miles or more a\r€y from their place of residence or business for the day or staying overnight;
3. or from anoiher country or staie outside of their place of residence or business.
You must provide the evidence utilized in determining your projections,
Response 2.1 *\A,hy wtuld tourisis lravel lo |<ttitas Oounty lo attend yoL$^evenuactivityiiacility?
We know that lndependence Day in Cle Elum is a popular raeekend for visitation,
vttth a 343% higher average accommodation daily rate. ($106.13 average
compared to $142.66 this r.treekend each year) Since we knowvisitors enjoy the
smalFtown feel of a 4th of July tucked away in the mountains, our goal is to
capitalize on this interest, developing an event that encourages visitors to stay
Saturday night and celebrate with the locals on Sunday. We see this as an
opportunity to punctuate the strong community connection between Kittitas County
and it's travelers- welcoming visitors, friends, and family to experience it with us.
2500 character lirit
Response 2.2 *tbscribe lhe priol success of your e.ventlaciivitylfacility i,r attraction tourists.
This is the first annual event, so vrc do not have concrete quantitative data from
years past. Our projections are based on a similar event called "4th of July
lndependence Celebraiion", which is hosted by the Silver Valley ldaho Chamber of
Commerce, The popirlation in Silver Valley is about 13,000 within 60 miles, but with
a location that is 30 minutes from Coeur D'Alene, t hour from Spokane. t hour
from St Regis Montana- they are a centralized tourist locatiorr similar to Cle Elum.
We interviewed this Chamber and anticipate at least the same turnout just for this
event, at leasl 1,000 attendees that will make the choice to visit because of this
event. Silver Valley reported that they usually have betr.r,reen 30%-50% from over
50 miles away depending on what day of the week the 4th lands on, so \ /e
conservatively project that 40% of attendees will stay in overnight paid
accommodations in Kittitas County. (400 divided by 2.5 average guests in each
room = 160 nights booked)
2500 characier limt
Application Questions: Parl 2
3llmpact
