To help ensure that we are meeting our goals, r,le <br />produce both large events and smaller aciivities. These events and activities are <br />promoted with the suppori of local lodging services rlfro in turn are cross-promoting <br />and broadcast our activities through their social media tools, reaching audiences <br />S0-nriles or farther. The National Main Street Center Four Point Approach, wtrich <br />our association follorars, includes supporting the merchant community with economic <br />goals that include planning events and activities to increase retail sales and <br />visitors. One of the primary rmys in wl'rich this is achieved is through the use of <br />social media and internet-based marketing tools. <br />To meet the challenges that COVID '19 brought in regards to large events, the Cle <br />Elum Downtor,vn Association rapidly changed up our efforts in attracting visilors and <br />encouraging overnight stays by increasing our social media outreach and providing <br />solid relail events thai allowed visitors to participate. <br />During the extreme COVID 19 Phase 2 and Phase 3 period, Cle Elum Downtown <br />has celebrated the opening of six small businesses and seen the closure of four. <br />Of the four spaces that are now empty, tno have been reclaimed and will be <br />reopening as newretail busjnesses. This impact and the growing interest in vacant <br />buildings are being actively looked at by potential buyers and new business ouners <br />as u€ll as through eryansion projects or second business ventures by existing <br />business o\\,ners. <br />Over ihe past year, the Cle Elum Downtown Association has ra,rcrked to build a <br />stronger relationship with our hotel and lodging services to engage in the <br />dor,r,ntown community. The Association is entering into discussions with each major <br />hoiel and resort about the opportunity to co-market events, and to consider <br />offering special lodging rates and accommodations for large events that occur in <br />the Upper Kittitas Couniy area, during 2A21 and beyond. <br />We u,elcome the opportunity to promote Cle Elum as a place for visitors and <br />tourists to explore and plan to achieve this by offering events and activities that are <br />creative and fun, using our collaborative process of raorking with existing and new <br />partnerships to encourage those traveling to our area to stay overnight wtrile <br />enioying t^ftat Cle Elum has to offer. <br />2500 character lirit <br />2l Supporting Kittitas County as a tourism destination
