KITTITAS COUNTY
EC STUDY SESSION MINUTES
BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 108 - ELLENSBURG
Regular Meeting
WEDNESDAY 1 10:00 AM I January 13, 2021
Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith (via Webex), Vice -Chairman Laura
Osiadacz (via Webex)
Others: Event Center Director Kady Porterfield (via Webex), Event Center Program Manager
Lacie Dawson (via Webex), Human Resources Director Lisa Young (via Webex), and Deputy
Prosecuting Attorney Chris Horner (via Webex)
Call to Order 10:01 a.m.
Fairgrounds Insurance Claim Updates:
Per Chris Horner, the damage was done by juveniles and EPD does have suspects. There was
approximately $100,000 in damage done. The county has a $500 deductible, the remainder
should be covered by insurance. Funds may be recouped from parents of juveniles, case is
ongoing.
Kady has conferred with Stephanie Hartung, she can move forward with the small works roster
to get the bidding done. There will need to be a special meeting for signatures.
General Event and Rental Updates:
Kady has met with both Dr. Larson and Stephanie Hartung regarding Bloom classification. If
doors on all sides are open, it can be considered "outdoor", if the doors are closed it will be
classified as "indoor". With the outdoor designation, we can have up to 50 participants for an
outdoor sporting event. Bloom is currently booked every day with multiple bookings, so that
will be helpful moving forward.
The fairgrounds will be used for the upcoming vaccine immunization clinic. It is expected to last
approximately three months. This will be a significant source of revenue, as it will be
reimbursed at 100% from FEMA funds from what the County Emergency Management Team
explained. We have not heard back on the court dates yet, but it will not start until February 17th
at the earliest.
Kady is working on a trade agreement for KCSO for space use.
Self -Promoted Event Updates:
Kady is confident that the fair will be able to take place this year, possibly with some small
modifications.
Kady is working with the promoter for the 4th of July concert to see what our options are and if
moving forward will be financially viable. We did receive $18,500 from lodging tax toward the
event. That is extremely helpful.
2021-01-13 MINUTES
