a <br />LEVEE INSPECTION REPORT <br />Routine Inspection <br />KLOCKE LEVEE <br />6 December 2017 <br />YAKIMA RIVER BASIN <br />Yakima River, Left Bank, River Mile 160.3 to 161.0 <br />Ellensburg, Kittitas County, Washington <br />CURRENT RATING: MINIMALLY ACCEPTABLE <br />PREVIOUS RATING: MINIMALLY ACCEPTABLE - 3 June 2016 <br />INSPECTION PERSONNEL: <br />• Frank Crossley, P.E.- USACE, Seattle District, Soils Section <br />• Seth Klein, P.E. - USACE, Seattle District, Soils Section <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Routine inspections are conducted to verify that the current levee condition meets minimum <br />criteria for eligibility as well as convey engineering concerns regarding condition and related <br />performance issues. These inspections are intended to reduce overall flood risk when utilized to <br />prioritize regular maintenance activities. This report describes observations made during the latest <br />inspection and summarizes recommendations for corrective action in order of priority. <br />The Klocke Levee was inspected on 6 December 2017 by USACE personnel. The levee sponsor <br />was invited to attend, but was unable to participate. <br />This levee is one segment of a six segment system comprised of both levees and non -project <br />segments. From downstream to upstream, the system includes: Klocke, City Well, and City Well <br />- SR10 Non -Project Segment (NPS). The levee is approximately 3,800 feet long and protects <br />residential property. The upstream end ties into the City Well levee at the bridge abutment for the <br />railroad. The downstream end tapers in height to less than 3 feet and appears to transition down to <br />the natural bank downstream of station 8+00. The levee alignment continues with riprap armoring <br />on the river bank downstream to the concrete intake structure of the Cascade irrigation headwork. <br />Page 1 of b <br />FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY <br />
