M]POW
TASK 2 — GEOTECHNICAL DESIGN
Objective: Perform a geotechnical investigation for the project, provide engineering analysis and
recommendations for pavement overlay design and document in a geotechnical report.
Consultant Responsibilities:
I. Mark proposed coring locations.
2. Perform "One Call" state utility notification to locate underground utilities. Adjust boring
locations as needed.
3. Prepare Right of Way use application and submit to Kittitas County.
4. Prepare traffic control plan and submit to Kittitas County.
5. Perform visual assessment of pavement condition.
6. Perform 20 pavement cores and shallow subsurface excavations using hand tools to assess
pavement layer thicknesses and subgrade support conditions. Pavement cores will be
backfilled with compacted gravel and patched with Aquaphalt cold patch.
7. Prepare photographic logs of pavement cores and assign laboratory testing on selected
samples.
8. Perform engineering analyses for pavement overlay design.
9. Prepare a draft geotechnical report presenting the results of our explorations and
engineering recommendations.
10. Prepare final geotechnical report.
Assumptions:
1. The subject matter of the report will be limited to the project overlay.
2. Temporary traffic control for coring can be provided using flaggers.
County Responsibilities:
1. N/A
Deliverables:
1. Draft and Final Geotechnical report for the Vantage Highway Pavement and Guardrail
Replacement project.
Page 14
23 Wenatchee Ave, Suite 223, Wenatchee, WA 98801 P: 509.663.2711 www,kpa.com
