• Maintain office supplies inventory. <br />• Maintain and operate office machinery, arranging for repair/services. <br />• Create correspondence, forms, and other material for the office. <br />• Exhibit a positive attitude towards the public, coworkers and other County employees. <br />• Present a professional appearance recognizing the position is the face of Public Works. <br />OTHER FUNCTIONS <br />Attend and take minutes supporting bi-monthly department work sessions with the Board of Count) <br />Commissioners. <br />a Attend and write minutes supporting other committees as required. <br />This job description is a summary of the primary functions and expectations for this position. <br />Additional department- related duties may be assigned as required. <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />High School Diploma or GED AND two (2) years of related office experience in a public -oriented <br />environment. <br />• Valid Washington State driver's license. <br />4 A criminal history and background check will be performed on qualified candidates. Convictions <br />may preclude candidates from employment in certain circumstances. Factors such as relativity to <br />the position, age and time of the offense, seriousness and nature of the violation, and rehabilitation <br />will be taken into account. <br />NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />• Proficient with computers, including Microsoft Office programs, and possess the ability to quickly <br />learn programs specific to the department and/or County. <br />• Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with County staff, <br />management, outside agencies, and the public. <br />• Possess strong organizational and multi -tasking skills. <br />• Possess clear, concise verbal and written communication skills. <br />• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, etc. in a <br />professional manner, using layman's terms when necessary. <br />• Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and adjust quickly to sudden changes <br />and priorities. <br />• Ability to greet and assist customers with pleasant demeanor. <br />PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS <br />• Previous experience in a governmental setting. <br />• Knowledge of statutory requirements of the Department of Public Works. <br />• College level coursework in a related field. <br />WORKING CONDITIONS <br />Work is primarily performed in an office setting with occasional need for work in the outdoor or non - <br />office environments. Office space is limited and requires employees to work in close proximity to each <br />other.
