road grading, upgraded parking configuration, and installation of a vault
toilet, all of which will be major park improvements available for the disc
golfers.
The Disc Colf Course is not currently signed, and due to its wooded location,
users are unlikely to stumble upon it on their own. To assist with this the
City has designed several signs for the park including an entrance sign with
an overall park map. and signs for each of the l8 holes. All signs highlight
the multiple configurations of the course that can be accomplished by
moving each basket (or hole) to one of 24locations. Since the signs have
been designed, they now need to be purchased and installed. Please see
attached draft signs.
While the course is advertised on the ltaitplaLl-D-tlq-Gq1l4.iss-sia-1,lj]lr,
gqqhtils_, the information is in dire need of an update. The City would like
to hire a consultanf to create a logo for the course in a first step toward
branding this comrnunity and tourism ameniq'.
The City would also like to design and print a Disc Golf Course
brochure, which will include the new logo and the overall park map
featured on the park's entrance sign, abbreviated game rules, and a score
card. The brochure can be distributed to all of the City's tourism brochure
holder locations, as well as local businesses who may want to carry disc
golf course supplies/equipment, such as the adjacent Whispering Pines RV
Park. Please see athched example brochure.
In the future, one of the portable trail counters described in section I above
could be used within the course to frack the number of users for recreation,
event planning, resource allocation, and reporting purposes.
2. Kittitas County Tourism lnfrastructure Plan: Please explain how the project meets
the goals and priorities in the Kittitas County Tourism lnfrastructure Plan as adopted.
,Also, describe the specific county tourism infrastructure needs the project addresses
and how the project directly increases tourism. Explain how the improvements will
promote tourism in Kittitas County and indicate specifically how the improvements will
directly increase economic activity resulting from tourists (see the definition of tourist
on page 3 of thisapplication),
Goals & Priorities. The project will help develop the integreity of place for the
Disc Golf Course and Hanson Ponds area, which will spill over into Cle Elum for
first time visitors, The Disc Golf Course also adds to Cle Elum's diverse set of
recreational resources and opportunities. The City and other groups like the Cle
Elum Downtown Association will be able to use the Trail Counters to plan and
evaluate events and their attendance, enhance visitor experiences, and gather data
for required.ILARC reporting, which will only serve to make future Lodging Tax
Grants more thorough and data supported. These recreationally- focused activities
that will be supported by the current grant request are within the environmental
tourisrn section of the County's Tourism Infrastructure Plan - they support open
