KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: September 28, 2020 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to Award Mass X <br />Construction the Bowers Field Utility Extension <br />Contract to the Pilot's Lounge <br />BACKGROUND: Public Works recently solicited bids for extending <br />City of Ellensburg Utilities to a Pacific Mobile <br />Office at Bowers Field (Pilot's Lounge). Using <br />MRSC for small works, three bidders responded. <br />The engineer's estimate was $54,499.50 and the <br />apparent low responsive bid from Mass X <br />Construction is for $24,517.08. Other bids: Hurst <br />at $71,670.96 and Belsaas and Smith for <br />$34,973.64. During the bid period, the contractor <br />contacted Construction Manager Case asking <br />numerous questions. This suggests the bidder was <br />well informed. Public Works requests the Board <br />award the Bowers Field Utility Extension Contract <br />to the Pilot's Lounge to Mass X Construction in the <br />amount of $24,517.08. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works and Bowers Field <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution to award the Bowers Field <br />Utility Extension Contract to the Pilot's Lounge to <br />Mass X Construction in the amount of $24,517.08. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works and one <br />original to Bowers Field <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution; Bid Tab <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark R.
