KITTITAS COUNTY <br />CDS STUDY SESSION MINUTES <br />BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM, WEBEX <br />Regular Meeting <br />MONDAY 1:30 PM September 14, 2020 <br />Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith, Vice -Chairman <br />Cory Wright, and Laura Osiadacz <br />Others: Dan Carlson, Jessica Miller, Toni Berkshire, Community <br />Development Services; Pat Nicholson, Fire Marshal; Neil <br />Caulkins, Prosecuting Attorney; Sherriff Clay Myers, Sherriff's <br />Office; Mark Cook, Candie Leader, Public Works; Patti Johnson, <br />Solid Waste; Benjamin West, Airport; and Six (6) Members of the <br />Public. <br />At 1:31 pm Chairman Brett Wachsmith opened the Community <br />Development Services Study Session. <br />Request for Board Direction Regarding Code Amendments Banning <br />Target Practice During Burn Bans <br />Director Carlson stated that a concerned citizen had approached <br />Commissioner Osiadacz regarding concerns about shooting during a <br />burn ban. Fire Marshal Nicholson stated that he does receive <br />calls regarding concerns about this and has investigated fires <br />that have been cause by shooting whether it be on public or <br />private land. He stated he does not have authority at this time <br />to enforce a ban on private property. Sheriff Myers stated he <br />would like to hear opinions of the public on this topic. A <br />member of the public stated they are the person that initially <br />called the Fire Marshal regarding the concern. They stated this <br />is usually not a concern, but with the current dry conditions it <br />seems an unnecessary hazard. Discussion occurred. Staff was <br />directed to bring this to the BoCC as an agenda item. <br />Request for Board Direction Regarding Code Amendment Related to <br />Code Enforcement Inspections <br />Director Carlson stated that currently the Code only allows the <br />Code Enforcement Officer to observe and document properties from <br />the public right of way, consent of the owner or get a search <br />2020-09-14 MINUTES 1 <br />
