tt{
As we outlined in our Covid plan, we have already made the decision to eliminate activities that are high
risk (i.e. petting zoo, corn kernel buried treasure and cloth covered pony hop races). That leaves us with
the same basic activities available across the county, at various city parks (i.e. swings, slides, tire swings,
etc.). One can easily determine that if it is allowed within a city park, it should be allowed on the farm.
We have also shared with the county that we are taking measures this year to reduce overall attendance
numbers at the farm by introducing paid admission. We expect this to drop our hourly attendance by as
much as 50%, brining overall estimated hourly visitors to just 50-75 per hour.
Additional resources:
We are members of the North American Farmer's Direct Marketing Association (NAFDMA), which is a
national and international organization that supports agritourism. They offer resources throughout the
year, including webinars, conferences, farm tours, etc. They have also been very responsive to farm
needs during the Covid outbreak, offering an abundance of resources. One such resource is a webinar
we will be attending next week called "Agritourism Preparations for Fall 2020". This will be a roundtable
discussion of farmers from across the country.
We also work closely with the Washington State Farm Bureau, where we go for current state
information and resources. One such resource are the free masks we ordered for our farm workers.
I think it worth noting that we are not trying to recreate the wheel, or even creote it for that matter.
Working farms across the state are already operating, using standard Covid practices for all essential
businesses. Below are three examples of some of the largest operators in our state, all from separate
counties:
iqtaunptg*$, lhrgq g{;Wr4: at{tej,s jbirggS'rtugf klng w'"{I B,l$F'patehds
,M .e#i.F.g6ql&ip, I e$g F,-drl n $ ue k I gv, {UR. f P i$ rc e Co u ntv) i,'
ABOUT ATTRACTIONS FIELDTRIPS PRIVATEEVENTS
Maris Farms Sunflower
Festival!
August 28-30, 2OZA
August 28 l-7 PMr August 29 l0 AM - 8 PM; August 30 l-6
PM
!t/,1liith11rpi11,r{iEt.lofi;rllit;ttlyrol'rrr.rl:,rirlIrsr,Itlurioiotriir:t
4'r:r lirr rlLoviei I r::.lrral ;i flrr r; l "r rr..
