KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: July 27, 2020 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing the Chair's <br />signature on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project <br />Prospectus for the Clear Zone Inventory, CRP 301-20. <br />BACKGROUND: Kittitas County has been selected to receive $70,900.00 <br />(Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program) towards <br />conducting a clear zone inventory for safety analysis. This <br />inventory will inform us of unsafe elements such as side <br />slopes, fixed objects and water that a vehicle may <br />encounter when leaving the roadway. The project will also <br />evaluate mitigation measures such as removal, relocation, <br />shielding and delineation. Factors being evaluated will <br />include crash severity potential, maintenance needs and <br />costs. <br />This Project Prospectus covers the Federal Funding for the <br />preliminary engineering phase and needs to be approved by <br />WSDOT Local Programs. <br />Public Works is preparing to perform this work with <br />County Forces in 2021. This requires the Local Agency <br />Federal Aid Project Prospectus to be signed and approved <br />by the Chair of the BOCC. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution Authorizing the Chair's signature <br />on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus for the <br />Clear Zone Inventory, CRP 301-20. <br />HANDLING: Return two (2) originals to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution, Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark Cook, Director <br />
