KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: April 27, 2020 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to Authorize the Director <br />of Airport Operations to Accept the 2020 CARES Act <br />Bowers Field Grant in the Amount of $69,000. <br />BACKGROUND: Responding to the COVID 19 pandemic, the United States <br />Congress has authorized general aviation airport financial <br />assistance through the CARES Act (fact sheet attached as <br />EXHIBIT 1). The funding is being funneled through the <br />Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and requires Board <br />authorization like other sponsor grants via FAA grant <br />assurances. The Director of Airport Operations is <br />requesting the Board accept the proposed $69,000 in grant <br />funding supporting needed maintenance operations at <br />Bowers Field. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works and Bowers Field. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the Director of Airport Operations to sign <br />Bowers Field CARES Act grant documents on behalf of the <br />Board of County Commissioners. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works. <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution. <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark R.
