Cook <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Acknowledge the Public Works (PW) current driveway width requirements remain in <br />effect pending adoption of revised road standards. <br />BRIEFING SUMMARY: <br />• Public Works currently requires driveways to be twelve (12) or sixteen (16 ) feet <br />wide depending on the length of the driveway <br />• Current adopted fire code requires driveways to be twenty (20 ) feet wide <br />• Revised Road Standards are prepared and ready for review <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Current Title 12 driveway width requirements are for 12 or 16 feet, depending on the <br />length of the driveway. The County has adopted the International Fire Code which <br />stipulates 20 feet of unobstructed width. Ongoing driveway and access permits require <br />adopted Title 12 requirements of 12 or 16 feet. PW recently completed revisions to Title <br />12 and initial outreach efforts formulating a citizen review committee resulted in no <br />applicants. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Recently, a local developer and land use planner have expressed willingness to work with <br />PW staff and the Fire Marshall's Office reviewing pending changes to Title 12.
