Kittitas County Flood Control Zone District Advisory Board Questionnaire
4. What is your level of flood knowledge in Kittitas County?
I am familiar with the flooding patterns in the County's major flood
risk zones and have a very strong understanding of the hydrology of
area creeks and how the Yakima River is operated for irrigation and
flood prevention.
-I am familiar with three of FCZD's floodplain assessments and
directly participated in two of them as both a proponent for state
funding and as a member of the technical committees.
-I have participated in post -flood projects in the Manastash,
Teanaway, Naneum, and Easton areas. My roles in these projects
ranged from technical support to funding review to regulatory work.
-I have been involved in planning and in technical review for
combined flood and habitat projects in the Irene Rhinehart to Helen
McCabe Park reach of the Yakima River.
5. What interests you most about becoming a member of the Flood Control
Zone District Citizen Advisory Group?
It is professionally and personally important to me that the FCZD be
successful. The district is uniquely positioned in the county to address
ongoing and pernicious problems that cross multiple disciplines and
property lines. I have a professional interest and experience in flood
emergency response planning, post -flood recovery, addressing
multiple priorities with flood mitigation projects, and seeking
"betterments" and other funding increases in the wake of federally -
declared flood emergencies.
It is personally important to me that FCZD policies and spending
result in good stewardship of limited taxpayer funds and limit the
uncertainty for residents caused by flooding risk to property and
infrastructure.
Pale 2 of 5
