priority 2, this project will be broken into 7 phases to create more manageable projects for
design and construction.
7. Bridge (tail Improvements -Code i
a. Phase 1- County Maintenance Districts Amp
I. 2 bridges or structures
b. Phase 2- County Maintenance District E
i. 1 bridge or structure
c. Phase 3- County Maintenance Districts F -L
1. 15 bridges or structures
These bridges were identified with lower risk because they feature bridge rail and approaches;
however, the rail and/or approaches and terminal do not meet current standards for
crashworthiness and will need to be upgraded to maintain adequate protection for errant
vehicles. There are 1S bridges and/or structures that have been rated as Code 1. These
structures have rail and approaches yet do not meet code, The priority is low on this project as
the bridges are functional but will need updated railing in the future to assist in preventing
serious injury or fatal accidents.
S. Corridor and Intersection Safety Improvements
This project provides corridor -wide Improvements for the entire length of Vantage Highway with
Intersection improvements for No. 6 Rd and Vantage Hwy. As well as two other Intersections
along Kittitas Hwy at Matthews Rd and No. 6 Rd which have been identified for safety
Improvements. Both Vantage Hwy and Kittitas Hwy are high -ADT corridors with an overall
roadway that is In good condition with appropriate countermeasures in place. This project
would provide monitoring and Identification of potential spot -improvements to areas within the
Vantage Hwy corridor that may warrant updated safety features. While several segments of
Vantage Highway scored high In risk-based prioritization, the evaluation of the accident types
did not. Kittiias County recognizes that improvements to this corridor may provide benefit to a
great number of travelers, and any improvements that could reduce potential future crashes are
13
