KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: October 8, 2018 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Authorize the Chair's Signature on the United <br />States Forest Service Grant Application Letter of <br />Support <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Cle Elum Ranger District is seeking grant <br />funding from the Recreation and Conservation <br />Office (RCO) supporting winter and summer <br />recreational activities. The USFS is seeking <br />funding for: trail maintenance, campground <br />maintenance, protecting natural resources and <br />educating recreationists. Outdoor recreation is a <br />key component to the economy of Kittitas County. <br />Public Works routinely partners with the Cle Elum <br />District in matters of road maintenance and <br />recreation access. <br />INTERACTION: <br />Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Authorize the Chair's signature on a letter of <br />support for USFS grant applications to WA RCO. <br />HANDLING: <br />Return one original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />Letter of Support <br />LEAD STAFF: <br />Mark R.
