Manastash Bridge #76132 Replacement — Geotechnical Construction Support
Aspect will provide geotechnical support services during construction of drilled shafts for the
Manastash Bridge 476132 Replacement (Project) located in Kittitas County, Washington.
Aspect will review and respond to geotechnical -related contractor submittals and/or requests for
information before and during construction. It is assumed that Aspect will review and process up to
four (4) submittals or RFI's.
During drilled shaft construction (four total), an Aspect field representative working under
supervision of an Aspect licensed professional engineer will provide full time observation and
documentation of drilled shaft excavation and construction. The purpose of these observations is to
verify that soil/rock encountered are consistent with the basis of design, and geotechnical elements
of construction are completed in general accordance with the Project plans and specifications.
Aspect will prepare daily field reports (DFR's) documenting each day's observations, activities,
and any field recommendations. An Aspect licensed professional engineer will review the DFR and
provide daily project management duties until the end of the drilled shaft construction. We assume
drilled shaft construction observation will last up to 10 full days, depending on the contractor's
progress.
After completion of each drilled shaft, Aspect will review WSDOT-provided Crosshole Sonic Log
(CSL) test results for each shaft. Aspect will provide a conclusion as to the suitability of the
constructed shaft and will recommend whether the constructed shaft should be approved in a
memorandum.
At the conclusion of the project, Aspect will prepare and submit a summary report of geotechnical
observation and inspections. All of Aspect's DFR's will be included in this report.
Assumptions
• Engineering direction to the Contractor regarding geotechnical engineering design issues
will be communicated through Jacob's project engineer or the County.
• Each RFI or submittal will take 2 hours on average to process.
• Drilled shaft construction duration will be up to 10 full days.
O Materials testing for drilled shaft construction will be completed by others.
• Geotechnical questions and concerns by the County or contractor will be conveyed by
Jacobs' project engineer to Aspect, and vice versa.
+ Any additional geotechnical design support by Aspect, if needed, is not included.
Deliverables
0 Response to up to 4 submittals/RFI.
