REQUEST TO APPROVE A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE CHAIR'S SIGNATURE <br />ON JACOBS ENGINEERING GROUP TASK ORDER NO. 16 FOR THE FAIRVIEW <br />ROAD CULVERT REPLACEMENT PROJECT <br />Mark Cook reported that during routine bridge inspections staff <br />found damage to a structure on Fairview Road. Mark Cook stated <br />that county forces installed steel plates on the damaged areas <br />for a temporary repair and now a permanent repair is necessary. <br />Mark Cook presented a task order for key services for the <br />repairs with Jacobs Engineering Group for Board consideration. <br />Discussion was held. Chairman Osiadacz called for a motion to <br />approve the Resolution presented. Vice -Chairman O'Brien made a <br />motion to approve Resolution 2018-138 Authorizing Chair's <br />Signature on Jacobs Engineering Task Order No. 16 for the <br />Fairview Road Culvert Replacement Project. Commissioner Wright <br />seconded the motion. Motion passed 3-0. <br />COUNTY ENGINEER HIRING PROCESS DISCUSSION <br />Mark Cook stated that with the departure of the last County <br />Engineer he has been serving as the Interim with assistance from <br />Sara Folk, Engineering Services Manager. Mark Cook added that <br />the past hiring process used involved an interview panel of <br />stakeholders for applicants. Mark Cook is requesting direction <br />moving forward. Discussion was held. Board directed staff to <br />draft a list of stakeholder participants for Board review at the <br />next study session. <br />GRANT COUNTY PUD VANTAGE BOAT RAMP RESTROOM UPDATE <br />Mark Cook gave background on the vandalism that led to the <br />current closure of the restrooms at the Vantage Boat Launch, <br />Mark Cook stated that there is no funding in the budget to <br />support the repairs necessary for reopening of the facilities <br />and staff submitted an application for Public Facilities funding <br />that is currently being scored by the Conference of Governments. <br />Mark Cook added that staff should be noticed in mid-September if <br />the funding will be awarded and this puts repairs to be <br />conducted in Spring 2019. Mark Cook continued that the ongoing <br />maintenance of the facility has been challenging and himself, <br />along with Commissioner O'Brien made a trip to visit with Grant <br />County PUD to come up with some solutions. Mark Cook added that <br />this meeting ended up being conducted with a staff person not <br />the decision makers at Grant County PUD. Mark Cook commented <br />that with the ongoing growth and improvements being done for <br />recreation in the area of Vantage by Grant County PUD he was <br />notified that the County can comment on the pending recreation <br />2018-08-27 MINUTES <br />
