08/21/2018 MINUTES 3 <br /> <br />MARK COOK, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR/INTERIM ENGINEER reviewed a Staff <br />Report and recommended installing a Stop Sign on Atlantic Avenue and <br />the intersection with 3rd Street (Ronald) and to consider Amending <br />Section 10.12.010 of the Kittitas County Code. He said they <br />conducted a traffic study and a site visit and determined that <br />nearby structures restrict sight distance for vehicles on Atlantic <br />Avenue approaching the intersection. It was noted it would be <br />consistent with nearby intersections, maintaining 3rd Street as the <br />through street. <br /> <br />THERE BEING NO ONE REQUESTING TO TESTIFY, THE PUBLIC PORTION OF THE <br />HEARING WAS CLOSED. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 2018-016 ATLANTIC AVE & 3RD STREET PUBLIC WORKS <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER O’BRIEN moved to approve Ordinance No. 2018-016, <br />Placement of Stop Signs on Atlantic Avenue at the Intersection with <br />3rd Street in Ronald and Amending Section 10.12.010 of the Kittitas <br />County Code. COMMISSIONER WRIGHT seconded. Motion carried 3-0. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING SPEED LIMIT ON TOZER ROAD PUBLIC WORKS <br /> <br />At 2:30 p.m. CHAIRMAN OSIADACZ opened a Public Hearing to consider <br />reducing the posted speed on Tozer Road from 50 MPH to 35 MPH. <br /> <br />MARK COOK, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR/INTERIM ENGINEER reviewed a Staff <br />Report and recommended reducing the posted speed on Tozer Road from <br />50 MPH to 35 MPH. He said they completed a speed study, analyzed <br />site distance at existing accesses, and conducted a site visit. They <br />determined that the roadway geometry does not safely support a 50 <br />MPH speed limit due to a number of vertical curves which restrict <br />sight distance. <br /> <br />THOSE PRESENT & TESTIFYING: MARTIN TOZER spoke in favor of lowering <br />the speed limit from 50 MPH to 35 MPH on Tozer Road. THERE BEING NO <br />OTHERS REQUESTING TO TESTIFY, THE PUBLIC PORTION OF THE HEARING WAS <br />CLOSED. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 2018-017 SPEED LIMIT ON TOZER ROAD PUBLIC WORKS <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER O’BRIEN moved to approve Ordinance No. 2018-017, <br />Establishment of a Speed Zone and the Placement of Speed Limit Signs <br />on Tozer Road and Amending Section 10.08.020 of the Kittitas County <br />Code, effective upon the installation of the appropriate signs. <br />COMMISSIONER WRIGHT seconded.
