Upper County Traffic Task Group Proposal <br />June 27, 2018 <br />Issue: Weekend traffic diverting from Interstate 90 creates two main issues for area residents: speeding <br />and congestion. <br />Task Force Assignment: Provide and/or vet various options proposed by the Department of Public Works <br />and the Sheriff's Office. <br />Suggested Task Force Structure: <br />• Two residents from Westside/Nelson Siding <br />• Two residents from Upper Peoh/Thorp Prairie <br />• Two upper county business owners <br />• One representative from the Sheriffs Office <br />• One representative from the City of Cle Elum <br />• One representative from Public Works (Director) <br />• One representative from Washington State Department of Transportation <br />Task Force Milestones: <br />• Form the group by August 13, 2018 <br />• Develop and vet proposals; August 2018 through December 2018 <br />• Present preferred alternatives with implementation timelines January 2019 <br />• Coordinate identified actions with Washington State Department of Transportation February — April <br />2019 <br />• Deploy infra -structure April -May 2019 <br />• Monitor success of selected actions: Summer 2019 <br />• Reconvene group September 2019 and report back monitoring results <br />• Identify plan adjustments October -November 2019 <br />• Implement adjusted actions April -May 2020 <br />County Expectations from group participants <br />• Attendance at six meeting in 2018 (meeting are expected to last 60-90 minutes each). Meeting will <br />be conducted in the evenings from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Meeting will be conducted in an upper <br />county venue to be determined. <br />• Attendance at six meeting in 2019 <br />Outreach effort: <br />• Press release followed by two consecutive solicitation ads in the Northern Kittitas County Tribune <br />(Press Release on July 17, 2018 with ads on July 19 and 26). <br />Formulating Process: <br />Public Works will prepare a list of responders and present the list to the BOCC during our Study Session <br />on August 13, 2018. <br />
