Upper County Traffic Task Group Proposal June 27, 2018 Issue: Weekend traffic diverting from Interstate 90 creates two main issues for area residents: speeding and congestion. Task Force Assignment: Provide and/or vet various options proposed by the Department of Public Works and the Sheriff's Office. Suggested Task Force Structure: • Two residents from Westside/Nelson Siding • Two residents from Upper Peoh/Thorp Prairie • Two upper county business owners • One representative from the Sheriffs Office • One representative from the City of Cle Elum • One representative from Public Works (Director) • One representative from Washington State Department of Transportation Task Force Milestones: • Form the group by August 13, 2018 • Develop and vet proposals; August 2018 through December 2018 • Present preferred alternatives with implementation timelines January 2019 • Coordinate identified actions with Washington State Department of Transportation February — April 2019 • Deploy infra -structure April -May 2019 • Monitor success of selected actions: Summer 2019 • Reconvene group September 2019 and report back monitoring results • Identify plan adjustments October -November 2019 • Implement adjusted actions April -May 2020 County Expectations from group participants • Attendance at six meeting in 2018 (meeting are expected to last 60-90 minutes each). Meeting will be conducted in the evenings from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Meeting will be conducted in an upper county venue to be determined. • Attendance at six meeting in 2019 Outreach effort: • Press release followed by two consecutive solicitation ads in the Northern Kittitas County Tribune (Press Release on July 17, 2018 with ads on July 19 and 26). Formulating Process: Public Works will prepare a list of responders and present the list to the BOCC during our Study Session on August 13, 2018.
