1 S. Slopes shall be stabilized to prevent erosion. In case erosion occurs in ditches, ditch <br />lining is to be provided as directed and specified by the County Engineer. <br />16. All backfill and embankment shall be compacted in accordance with WSDOT <br />Standard Specifications Section 2-03.3(14)C, Compacting Earth Embankment, <br />Method B. <br />17 Where newly constructed paving meets existing paving, the applicant shall saw cut <br />and remove the existing pavement to provide a buttjoint and a smooth transition <br />from existing to proposed paving. Application of a thin tack coat of emulsified <br />asphalt shall be applied to the existing vertical edge to ensure proper bonding. <br />18. The completed surface of all courses shall be of uniform texture, smooth, with a <br />consistent crown and grade, and free from all defects. The completed surface of the <br />wearing course shall not vary more than 1/8 inch from the lower edge of a 10 foot <br />straightedge placed on the surface parallel to the centerline. The transverse slope of <br />the completed surface of the wearing course shall vary not more than 1/4 inch in 10 <br />feet from the rate of transverse slope shown on the plans. <br />19. Subgrade, embankment, base course, top course, pavement, pipe bedding and <br />trench backfill shall be tested for compaction before subsequent courses are <br />constructed. <br />20. Materials sampling and testing shall be at a frequency and magnitude as specified in <br />the Standard Specifications or determined by the County Engineer. Private third <br />party and independent testing laboratory may perform testing and sampling. <br />Certified test reports shall be furnished to the County Engineer for all tests <br />performed. <br />Article XII. Standard Plans <br />Except where otherwise noted, the following standard plans and details for Kittitas County shall be used <br />for all roadway, bridge, and storm drainage work in Kittitas County. <br />A.
