Cook. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Direct that staff docket a resolution prohibiting heavy truck traffic (FH WA Class 9 and <br />above) on Nelson Siding Road, Westside Road, Upper Peoh Point Road and Thorp <br />Prairie Road annually from May 27'h to September 7th. <br />BRH.IFING SUMMARY: <br />• Heavy truck traffic avoiding 1-90 is damaging County roads <br />• RCW 36.75.270 allows the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) to restrict <br />truck traffic <br />A resolution is required to implement the desired restriction <br />Staff has added a resolution clause recognizing the need to maintain local <br />deliveries to area businesses <br />BACKGROUND: <br />During summer 2017, the 13000 and Public Works (PW) received numerous complaints <br />from county residents regarding heavy truck traffic avoiding Interstate 90. Staff has been <br />directed by the 13000 to prepare appropriate legislation restricting heavy truck traffic <br />over Nelson Siding Road, Westside Road, Upper Peoh Point Road and "fhorp Prairie <br />Road. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Staff has revised a preliminary resolution (EXHIBfT 1) for BOCC consideration <br />prohibiting heavy traffic over Nelson Siding Road, Westside Road, Upper Peoh Point <br />Road anti "fhorp Prairie Road. The legislation seeks to prohibit all Federal Highway <br />Administration trucks class 9 and above. This will allow dump trucks and concrete <br />deliveries along with smaller panel trucks.
