BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COON IN OF KITJ'ITAS <br />SJ'A IT, OF WASHINGTON <br />RESOFU"IION NO. 2018 - <br />ADOPTING A RESOLUTION PROHIBITING ALL HEAVY VEHICLES CLASSIFIED 13Y <br />FHWA AS CLASS 9 AND ABOVE FROM TRAVELING ON NELSON SIDING ROAD, <br />WESTSIDF ROAD, UPPER PEON POINT ROAD AND THORP PRAIRIE ROAD ANNUALLY <br />FROM MAY 27"' UNTIL JUNE 7r"`. <br />WHEREAS: The Revised Code of Washington 35.75270 allows local government, by resolution, to <br />limit or prohibit classes and types of vehicles and or the weight of vehicles traveling on <br />local roadways; and <br />WHEREAS: County residents report significant heavy truck traffic utilizing Nelson Siding Road, <br />Westside Road, Upper Peoh Point Road, and Thorp Prairie Road (Upper County Roads) <br />attempting to avoid nearby Interstate systems; and <br />WHEREAS: Local road infrastructure along said roadways is experiencing accelerated deterioration <br />from the increased use of heavy truck traffic; and <br />WHEREAS: Said restrictions are required to be published at least once in the paper of record, and <br />signs shall be posted on said roadways indicating the closure or limitation of traffic; and <br />WHEREAS: In accordance with the Revised Code of Washington 35.75.270, any person violating said <br />restrictions imposed by this resolution shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. and <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE ITRESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in the best interest <br />of the public, does hereby prohibit all heavy vehicles classified under the Federal Highway <br />Administration (FHWA) vehicle classification definitions as a class group 9 and above, to travel on <br />Nelson Siding Road, Westside Road, Upper Peoh Point Road, and Thorp Prairie Road.
