Draft
maps were produced in 2012 and were not accepted by the County. Numerous concerns
from the new maps stalled any substantive discussion towards adoption.
In 2015, staff began discussions with FEMA regarding a limited map adoption process
and solicited FEMA for support with the agency's Cooperative Technical partner (CTP)
program. FEMA has supporting partial funding of the County's Whiskey Creek and
Mercer Creek flow models and we have moved forward towards implementing a subset
of the 2012 revised flood hazard maps. This cooperative effort has delivered FEMA's
acceptance of the County's Currier Creek two-dimensional flow model for regulatory
remapping.
PUBLIC WORKS BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT
