BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONt-AS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WAST IINGTON <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2017 - <br />TO ADOPT A RESOLUTION PROHIBITING ALL HEAVY VEHICLES CLASSIFIED BV <br />FIIWA AS A CLASS GROUP 9 AND ABOVE TO TRAVEL ON NELSON SIDING ROAD, <br />WESTSIDE ROAD, UPPER PEOH POINT ROAD AND THoRP PRAIRIE ROAD <br />WHEREAS: The Revised Code of Washington J5.75.270 allows local government, by resolution, to <br />linlit or prohibit classes and types ofvehicles and or the weight of vehicles traveling on <br />local roadways; and <br />WHEREAS: County residents report significant heavy truck traffic utilizing Nelson Siding Road, <br />Westside Road. Upper Pcoh Point Road, and Thorp Prairie Road attempting to avoid <br />nearby Interstate systems; and <br />WHEREAS: Local road infi-astructurc along said roadways is experiencing accelerated deterioration <br />from the increased use of heavy truck traffic; and <br />WHEREAS: Said restrictions are required to be published at least once in the paper of record, and <br />signs shall be posted on said roadways indicating the closure or limitation of traftie; and <br />WHEREAS: In accordance with the Revised Code of Washington 35.75.270, any person violating said <br />restrictions imposed by this resolution shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in the best interest <br />ofthe public, does hereby prohibit all heavy vehicles classified under the Federal Highway <br />Administration (FHWA) vehicle classification definitions as a class group 9 and above, to travel on <br />Nelson Siding Road, Westside Road, Upper Pooh Point Road, and Thorp Prairie Road.
