KITITTAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />SUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: October 9, 2017 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve the Resolution to initiate a county <br />road project for the construction of a <br />turnaround on Ringer Loop Road. <br />BACKGROUND: The Department of Public Works recently <br />finalized the purchase of the Papineau <br />property in the vicinity of Ringer Loop road. <br />The roadway is no longer a loop and requires <br />the installation of a cul de sac to allow school <br />busses and other motor vehicles to turnaround <br />at the end of the road that is now washed out <br />by the Yakima River. <br />Public Works will construct the cul de sac with <br />County Forces and anticipates the total cost <br />will be about $35,000. <br />Public Works is planning to construct the <br />turnaround in October prior to the winter <br />season to avoid complications that were <br />experienced by the school busses last year. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Motion to approve the Resolution to initiate a <br />county road project for the construction of a <br />turnaround on Ringer Loop Road. <br />HANDLING: Return a copy of the Resolution to Public <br />Works. <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution <br />LEAD STAFF: Lucas Huck, County Engineer <br />
