Action Item
IV. Mechanical Items:
A. If heat is added to the Bloom Pavilion, the energy code will require that insulation is
added. Patti will check with the city to see if they will grant an exemption to the
insulation requirement if the heat is only enough to maintain a 40° space.
B. Ventilation:
1. The existing roof -mounted exhaust fan is very noisy and must be turned off
during events that use the PA System.
2. The engineer has proposed two roof fans with low sidewall intake louvers for
ventilation.
V. Structural:
A. The roof of the addition can be self-supporting or possibly attached to the pavilion
structure. Attaching to the pavilion structure eliminates the need for a row of columns
along the pavilion wall.
B. Patti will look for information on the existing pavilion's structure that is needed to
evaluate the feasibility of using the existing structure to support the addition.
Information needed is the steel frame design, tilt -up concrete panel design, and
footing and foundation design.
VI. Electrical:
A. It was noted that the pavilion needs an upgraded electrical service. Multiple fans
running in the space frequently causes the breakers to trip.
ALSC B. ALSC will have the electrical engineer evaluate the existing electrical service to
determine what is needed to correct the situation.
C. LED lights are the preferred lighting source for the addition.
VII. Wash Racks:
A. Swine: 12 stations 3 ft. wide by 4 ft. deep are needed with a hose bib 5 ft. above the
slab at each station.
B. Cattle: 6 stations 6 ft. wide by 8 ft. deep are needed with a hose bib 5 ft. above the
slab at each station.
C. Horse: 6 — 12, 6 ft. wide by 8 ft. deep stations are needed with a hose bib 5 ft. above
the slab at each station. The rack should be as large as possible between the east
door to the Draft Horse Barn and the Drive Lane to the south. It should have roof with
a minimum clearance of 8 ft. and solid sides to reduce wind.
D. Wash racks should be paved with concrete. They will be covered with rubber mats.
E. No dividers are required between wash rack stations.
VIII. The City of Ellensburg will be responsible for plan review and permits for this project.
IX. The next meeting will be scheduled after the survey is complete. This may three — six
weeks.
2016-075 Kittitas Valley Event Center -Bloom Pavilion MM 2017-02-13 2 ALSC Architects I We bring our clients' stories to life.
