12/20/2016 MINUTES 3 <br />THOSE PRESENT & TESTIFYING: LOU WHITFORD, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF <br />KITTITAS encouraged the Board to include the No. 81 Road project as <br />she claimed it’s extremely important for public safety. DAVID <br />ANDERSON, CITY OF KITTITAS POLICE DEPARTMENT explained safety <br />concerns with the area on No. 81 Road due to increased traffic from <br />the amount of single family homes. He encouraged the Board to <br />support the project. CHIEF NIERMAN, CITY OF KITTITAS POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT said he had personally witnessed pedestrians having to go <br />down into the ditch due to trucks or vehicles coming so close to the <br />side of the roadway. He encouraged the Board to approve widening the <br />shoulder for the safety of residents. MARK CROWLEY said he was a <br />resident of Alpine Estates and has used the old trail that was <br />abandoned. Although he would be in favor of the shoulder being <br />widened, he felt but there may be other options that could be looked <br />at including using property owned by the City of Kittitas. THERE <br />BEING NO OTHERS REQUESTING TO TESTIFY, THE PUBLIC PORTION OF THE <br />HEARING WAS CLOSED. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 2016-168 6 YR TRANSP. IMPROVEMENT PLAN PUBLIC WORKS <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER JEWELL moved to approve Resolution No. 2016-168, <br />Adopting a Six-Year Transportation Improvement Plan for the Years <br />2017-2022. COMMISSIONER OSIADACZ seconded. Motion carried 3-0. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 2016-169 ANNUAL CONSTRUCTION PLAN PUBLIC WORKS <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER JEWELL moved to approve Resolution No. 2016-169, <br />Adopting the Annual Construction Program for 2017. COMMISSIONER <br />OSIADACZ seconded.
