Board of Health Minutes <br />July 13, 2016 <br />2 of 4 <br />• BOHAC's intent to discuss the possibility of offering the "safety" features of public health to the <br />Homeless and Affordable Housing Authority per previous BOH discussion <br />The group discussed what BOHAC should be researching and the correlation between public health and <br />affordable housing to establish public health's role. There was also discussion about Hope Source and <br />what home improvements they can help community members with. It was suggested to have BOHAC do <br />benchmarking to see what other community partners are doing in an effort to avoid duplicate work <br />efforts. Ms. Read will take this information back to BOHAC next month. <br />Department Updates/Issues <br />Admin Updates <br />Robin Read discussed the 2016 West Nile Virus update: <br />• Six mosquito samples from Benton, Grant, and Yakima Counties have tested positive this season <br />• Kittitas County will begin conducting mosquito surveillance and information distribution, with <br />the assistance of interns <br />• Discussed 2015 West Nile Virus season (human cases by county of likely exposure and <br />residence, and infected horses/other mammals, birds, and mosquitoes <br />Health Officer Update <br />No Health Officer update at this meeting. <br />Financial update <br />No Financial update at today's meeting. <br />Business <br />Water Resource Program update <br />Holly Myers gave a presentation on the Kittitas County Water Mitigation and Metering Program and <br />reviewed the following information with BOH members on the water mitigation and metering program: <br />• Permanent regulations <br />• Mitigation options (Package A and Package B) <br />• Metering program review of information <br />• Customer process <br />• Eligibility <br />• Water bank zones <br />• Different paths for green and yellow zones (length of time for permits) <br />• Updated status on mitigation certificates applied for and the future of county purchasing more <br />water <br />• Ongoing development of meter program <br />• Future goals of department <br />Ms. Myers handed out information on the current applications for water mitigation received in the health <br />department. Ms. Myers also discussed the possible future of cisterns. It was clear from the discussion that <br />more conversations will need to be had as to where the water for cisterns will come from, but Ms. Myers <br />is hopeful that a cistern program will be established in the future. <br />
