Ellensburg Business
Development Authority
September 7, 2016
Mark Cook, Director
Kittitas County Department of Public Works
Distressed County Sales and Use Tax Grant Program
411 N. Ruby St., Ste #1
Ellensburg, WA 98926
RE: Distressed County Sales and Use Tax Grant Award — Emergency funds request
Mark,
I am writing in regards to the Distressed County Sales and Use Tax award EBDA just received
for roof replacement at the Prospect Street Incubator. Since we applied for this grant in June,
the roof replacement has become an emergency situation where numerous bays of the building
are leaking even during a short sprinkle. It's clear that the roof won't survive another winter
without severe damage to the building and, worse, to the products and equipment of the tenants
housed there.
I am respectfully requesting that this project be considered an "emergency" similar to the Roslyn
sidewalk repair that was also approved by the BOCC. In the alternative, we could perhaps front
the expense and be reimbursed when grants are dispersed in early 2017.
Attached is a photo of water from a minor sprinkle in July and how close it came to ruining very
expensive custom cabinetry just completed by one of the tenant businesses.
Please let me know if this request is feasible and if you need any other information
Thank you. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions.
Sincerely,
Jim Armstrong
Interim Director, EBDA
Enclosure
CC: Craig Smith, EBDA Chairman
PO Bos 598 -(,6,)-\ - ma -..,s', - Ellensburg WA 98926 OtTce: 509-925-2002
,vwN rk [heebda.coin
