KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />PUBLIC WORKS — BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />STUDY SESSION DATE September 12, 2016 <br />TOPIC Ellensburg Business Development <br />Authority Sales and Use Tax Funding <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark R. Cook <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Direct staff to contact the Chamber of Commerce and advise that the Conference <br />of Governments (COG) must recommend immediate funding to the Board of <br />County Commissioners (BOCC). Request staff schedule time with the COG for a <br />presentation of the funding request. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Recently, the BOCC took action formalizing the COG 2017 Public Facilities <br />funding recommendations. The COG annually makes recommendations for <br />project funding to the BOCC utilizing Distressed County Sales and Use Tax <br />monies. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />The Chamber of Commerce is now requesting immediate release of the <br />requested $63,685 for replacing the roof of the Prospect Street Incubator. The <br />2017 awards are slated to begin expensing January 1, 2017. <br />The fund is carrying approximately one million in funding reserve at this time. <br />FISCAL IMPACTS: <br />The requested early expenditure of $63,685 can be absorbed by current fund <br />reserve.
