Two children have already died from ingesting liquid nicotine, and she stressed the <br />importance of this information because advertisement of these products appeal to children. Ms. Thomas <br />also noted that second hand smoke is known to have ten different chemicals that have negative health <br />risks and effects. She noted that most advertising for these items do not disclose they contain nicotine. In <br />data collected by the state, there is an increase in e -cigarette poisoning in children. <br />Nancy Jewe resident of Kittitas County and Board of Health Advisory Committee member: <br />Ms. Jewett read a letter the Board of Health Advisory Committee wrote on August 8, 2016, to the Kittitas <br />County Commissioners that endorses the proposed ordinance to change Kittitas County Code Chapter <br />8.24. Ms. Jewett also noted that the normalization of electronic devices needs to stop. <br />Public Comment closed at 10:35 am <br />Motion to approve the Board of Health Ordinance 2016-01. <br />Motion 08-01: Motion to approve the Board of Health Ordinance 2016-01 to Amend Chapter 8.24 <br />of the Kittitas County Code. Paul Jewell moved to approve the Board of Health Ordinance 2016-01 <br />to Amend Chapter 8.24 of the Kittitas County Code. Laura Osiadacz second. All approved. Motion <br />08-01 carried to approve the Board of Health Ordinance 2016-01 to Amend Chapter 8.24 of the <br />Kittitas County Code. <br />Dr. Asriel noted that he appreciates finding a balance of trying to protect children and employees and <br />respecting personal choice of those adults. <br />Paul Jewell noted that he appreciates the work put in to incorporating the balance from public health's <br />perspective and stake holder's needs on both sides. <br />Motion to approve the Board of County Commissioners Ordinance 2016-016. <br />Motion 08-02: Motion to approve the Board of County Commissioners Ordinance 2016-016 to <br />Amend Chapter 8.24 of the Kittitas County Code.
