KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: June 23, 2016 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Authorize a Call for Bids — Silica Road Bridge <br />Replacement and for the Director to sign procurement <br />documents <br />BACKGROUND: In late 2015, the Silica Road Bridge was removed by order <br />of the Kittitas County Road Engineer. The bridge had been <br />closed for more than one year owing to structural damage <br />to the bridge superstructure. <br />Following bridge removal, Kittitas County Public Utility <br />District No. 1, Kittitas County Fire and Rescue and Kittitas <br />Reclamation District contacted the County requesting the <br />bridge be replaced. Public Works proposes replacing the <br />old concrete bridge with a new 14 foot X 25 foot metal <br />bridge with a safety rail. <br />Suppliers on the County's small works roster will be <br />targeted for providing bids and the call for bids will be <br />advertised in the County's paper of record for two weeks <br />beginning on June 29, 2016. The Engineer's estimate for <br />bridge procurement including delivery is $40,000.00. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Move to authorize a call for bids and the Director's <br />signature on procurement documents. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution, Instructions to Bidders, Standard Terms and <br />Conditions, Special Provisions <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark R.
