KITTITAS COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
PUBLIC WORKS — BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT
WORK SESSION DATE: January25, 2016
TOPIC: Floodplain By Design Pre -applications
ACTION REQUESTED: Validate Task Order No. 6 (Watershed Science and
Engineering)
LEAD STAFF: Mark R. Cook
RECOMMENDATION:
Validate our decision authorizing Task Order No. 6
BACKGROUND:
2015 Floodplain by Design (FBD) grants did not include any funding of Kittitas
County projects. It is our understanding that the Department of Ecology is
anticipating re -submittal of County proposals for funding and is expressing
encouragement for funding consideration.
The departure of the Planner III in Public Works in December (12-31-2015) left
the FBD pre -applications in various stages of completion. Recognizing the
impact to numerous County planning partners, we met with our hydrology and
hydraulics consultant (01-14-2015) discussing assistance completing the pre -
applications.
DISCUSSION:
On 01-20-2016, we signed task order no. 6 with Watershed Science and
Engineering. The task order directs completion of three FBD projects and
supports a Salmon Recovery Funding Board application and Yakima River
Corridor Plan Implementation projects.
The FBD work will complete on 01-29-2016 (meeting FBD deadline) and the
other two will complete later this spring. A copy of the task order is attached for
Board review as EXHIBIT 1.
FISCAL IMPACTS.
The task order value is $15,873.36.
ATTACHMENTS:
EXHIBIT 1: Task Order No. 6
PUBLIC WORKS BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT
